How Czech net salary (čistá mzda) works in 2026
Your gross salary (hrubá mzda) is reduced by three deductions to reach your net pay (čistá mzda): social insurance, health insurance and income tax. Since 2021 the tax base is simply your gross salary — the old "super-gross" wage (superhrubá mzda) was abolished.
2026 employee insurance rates
Social insurance (sociální pojištění) 7.1% — made up of 6.5% pension (důchodové) and 0.6% sickness (nemocenské). It is capped at an assessment base of 2,350,416 CZK per year (195,868 CZK per month).
Health insurance (zdravotní pojištění) 4.5%, with no cap.
Together the employee pays 11.6% of gross in insurance, before income tax.
2026 income tax and credits
Income tax is 15% of the tax base up to 36× the average wage — 1,762,812 CZK per year, or 146,901 CZK per month — and 23% on the part above that. The monthly tax base is rounded up to whole hundreds of CZK before the rate is applied. The tax is then reduced by the basic taxpayer credit (sleva na poplatníka) of 2,570 CZK per month (30,840 CZK per year), which cannot push the tax below zero on its own.
Child tax credit (daňové zvýhodnění) is 1,267 CZK per month for the first child, 1,860 CZK for the second and 2,320 CZK for the third and each further child. Unlike the taxpayer credit, the child credit can exceed your tax and be paid out as a tax bonus (daňový bonus), which this calculator shows as a negative tax (added to your net pay).
